Performance Evidence

Before competency can be determined, individuals must have competently repaired structural faults on vehicle bodies and components on a minimum of three occasions.

Individuals must demonstrate they can:

  • locate, interpret and apply relevant rectification instructions and information
  • calculate material requirements
  • conduct repairs that comply with vehicle specifications
  • use tools and equipment safely to repair structural faults in vehicles
  • repair structural faults in vehicles according to work health and safety (WHS) requirements and workplace procedures
  • communicate repair requirements with co-workers.

Knowledge Evidence

Individuals must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

  • WHS requirements to repair vehicle structural faults
  • workplace procedures to repair vehicle structural faults
  • repair quality standards
  • repair techniques for vehicle bodies and components
  • procedures for using tools and equipment
  • methods and techniques required to repair structural faults and defects
  • vehicle specifications
  • material handling procedures.

Assessment Conditions

Assessors must satisfy SNR/AQTF assessor requirements.

Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.

Where assessment of competency includes third-party evidence, individuals must provide evidence that links them to the vehicles that they have worked on, e.g. repair orders.

Assessors must verify performance evidence through questioning on skills and knowledge to ensure correct interpretation and application.

The following resources must be made available:

  • automotive manufacturing workplace or simulated workplace
  • tools, equipment and materials required for structural rectification
  • vehicles or components requiring structural rectification or repair
  • vehicle specifications
  • repair plan and work instructions
  • workplace procedures to repair vehicle structural faults.
